HOSPITAL HELPERS HONOURED
Volunteers at Auburn Hospital were honoured with a morning tea and presented with certificates recognising their contribution.
Thanked for giving their time and energy to help others, volunteers at Auburn Hospital were honoured with a morning tea last week as part of NSW Health Volunteers Appreciation Day.
The volunteers were presented certificates and director, operations Auburn and Westmead, Rod Gilroy, paid tribute to their contribution.
"There are currently 33 volunteers within Auburn Hospital Community Health Services, each one performing countless hours of unpaid work," he said.
"Our volunteers help to make our patients' stay more comfortable, and bring with them a sense of community and belonging, and contribute to the uniqueness of our health service.
"The volunteers perform a variety of tasks including Wayfinding assistance, Aged Care Support, patient library trolley service, fundraising, multicultural assistance within outpatients department, patient mealtime assistance, hand massage and role playing as patients for the University of Notre Dame School of Medical Clinical Exams"
Mr Gilroy said that last year they raised $61,500 which assisted in purchasing various items of medical equipment.
Volunteers betweem the ages of 18 and 80 are welcome at Auburn Hospital, and more information contact the voluntary services coordinator on 8759 3127.

I love studying at the esol 3f class. I want to learn english very well . I studied esol and Business Administration
courses five years ago but we went to my country to live. In there we spoke Turkish so I needed to practise
esol class to repeat. When I came to Australia I was afraid about what should I do. Firstly, I decided that I would go to Tafe and study.
Sometimes it is so confusing for me I can't understand. I try to listen carefully and practise.
I usally watch tv with subtitles. It is a good practise for me.
I feel very happy when I learn too many english words and practise.
